#507 - The Woman Who Rides Like A Man

The Woman Who Rides Like A Man
Tamora Pierce
Book #3 - "Song of the Lioness" series

In this book Alanna escapes court and goes adventuring with her dear friend Corum. One again she finds herself having many adventures along the way. She finds she has to use her magic a little more and much is placed on her shoulders. Good continuation of the series.

#506 - In The Hand of the Goddess

In The Hand of the Goddess
Tamora Pierce
Book #2 - "Song of the Lioness Series"

This second book takes Alanna from her years as a squire to her knighthood. She deals with her secret getting out, romance, war, evil at court and much more. She also has a traveling companion in the form of a black cat. It does have a little reference to non marital romance which I don't agree with. Other than that it's a pretty good book!

#505 - Alanna

Alanna, The First Adventure
Tamora Pierce
The Song of the Lioness series
274 pages

There are 4 books in this series and I have to warn you that it is much like her other books. There is more than one series for this group of books. They totally build upon each other as the characters grow and change. These first four books are about Alanna. A young girl who desperately wants to become a Knight to the king. So in her scheme of things she trades her brother places and she becomes a boy and heads off to the castle. Great story!

#504 - The Wish

The Wish
Gail Carson Levine
243 pages

Wow! This was a great story. Not at all what you would expect but as always be careful of what you wish for because it might just come true. It really makes me wonder what I would wish for if I found myself in the same situation. A very funny story that really leaves you thinking!

#503- The Invention of Hugo Cabret

The Invention of Hugo Cabret
Brian Selznick
533 pages

Don't let the size of this book scare you away. It is chocked full of pictures that really help to tell the story. The story is about the early French cinema and was facinating. I really enjoyed the book and the real history behind it.

#502 - Dave at Night

Dave at NIght
Gail Carson Levine
281 pages

I loved this story, it was totally delightful. She is much more famous for many of her other books. However this one has a wonderful true story behind it and so much heart. You can't help but to enjoy this delightful story.

#501 - Parade of Shadows (January reading)

Parade of Shadows
Gloria Whelan
295 pages

Good book, I always love her stories because they always teach me about a new corner of the world. This one has a great coming of age type of story. The best part is the Dad realizing his little girl isn't just a little girl.
